The latest Research Assessment Exercise ranked 85% of our research output, for which all staff were submitted, as being 'world class', 'internationally excellent', or 'internationally recognised'.
This diverse research base is reflected in what students can study as part of our undergraduate programme. As well as quantity, we are also committed to providing the highest level of quality in teaching, alongside ensuring a pleasant and friendly environment for our students to enjoy their university education. The course offers a wide variety of choice, and is unique in offering independent research modules at all years in order to prepare our students for their final year project (the 'dissertation'). Our undergraduate course can also be combined with many different courses as part of a Joint Honours programme.
We also offer an assortment of postgraduate programmes, ranging from purely taught courses to research courses. Our research based courses are perfect for those planning for a career in professional academia, whilst we offer a selection of other courses for those who are interested either in complementing their non-academic vocation or (of course!) studying philosophy solely for pleasure.
